About Dimitri

I’m Dimitri Protonentis, a broadcast journalist and on-air personality energized by live television and the opportunity to connect with viewers.

Growing up on the seasonal streets of Brooklyn sparked my fascination with weather, and that curiosity eventually brought me to sunny Los Angeles, where I graduated magna cum laude from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Fight On!

At USC, I served as a weather anchor, live reporter, multimedia journalist, and producer, gaining experience both in front of and behind the camera. I also created and hosted Weather Worth Watching, a segment where I found my own style as a weather broadcaster.

Most recently, I was the intern at KTLA 5 News, where I worked alongside anchors, reporters, producers, and meteorologists, gaining hands-on experience in live news, weather coverage, breaking news, and digital storytelling.

What began as a fascination with weather grew into a love for live television and the opportunity to connect with viewers every day. I’m excited to continue growing as a broadcaster wherever the next story takes me.
